Meet the Team

Kyle Van Swol, M.B.A.

Sr. Program Coordinator - OSPH Career Services

I began my professional journey with a B.B.A. in Business Management from Texas Tech University, followed by an M.B.A. in Healthcare Organization and Leadership from The University of Texas at Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center. My career path has been shaped by a genuine curiosity about what drives people, how they make decisions, discovering their strengths, and finding work that feels meaningful.

Over the past eight-plus years at UT Southwestern Medical Center, I've had the opportunity to grow alongside this institution in various roles and developed a deep appreciation for the work happening here. In my current role as Senior Program Coordinator for Student Affairs at the Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health, I support students across the M.P.H., Ph.D., M.S.C.I., M.S.H.I., and Certificate Programs in navigating their career journeys. From their first semester through graduation and beyond. My work spans one-on-one career coaching and advising, professional development programming, employer outreach, and applied practice experience coordination.

My approach to career services is rooted in the belief that meaningful career development starts from the inside out. Before diving into job boards and application strategies, I try to help students get clear on what actually matters to them. I inquire on their values, strengths, and vision for the kind of impact they want to have. Public health careers are incredibly diverse, and I love being part of the process of helping students discover where they fit within that landscape, whether that's in government, healthcare systems, nonprofits, research, consulting, or somewhere entirely unexpected.

Outside of work, you'll find me in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, spending time in nature, or involved in one of my many ongoing creative pursuits. I'm a firm believer that the same curiosity and self-awareness we bring to our personal lives makes us better professionals, and I try to carry that spirit into every advising conversation.

I'm genuinely excited to be part of the O'Donnell School of Public Health community and look forward to supporting your journey here. Please don't hesitate to reach out!
